Quantum error correction: topology and gates

This talk will review the fundamentals of quantum error correction with a focus on topological stabilizer codes. In particular, it will focus on conditions for the implementation of logical gates and the corresponding restrictions for such codes. Finally, it will discuss some examples of logical gates in popular code families, such as the toric and color codes.
