Description

The preparation of magic states is essential for many popular schemes of fault-tolerant quantum computation. In this talk, I will first review the concept and motivation behind the Clifford+T circuits, magic states, and conventional distillation protocols. I will then examine how magic state distillation can act on unconventional inputs where the state is entangled and magic is distributed non-locally. In particular, the outcome of distillation can be significantly improved when we apply entangling operations judiciously using spin squeezing.
