Abstract:
Decades after their discovery, neutron stars are now beginning to live up to expectations. Multi-messenger observations, advances in nuclear theory and experiment, and computational astrophysics are all coming together to provide new insights about the nature of dense QCD matter, and offer new ways to either discover or constrain the particle nature of dark matter. I will discuss these recent developments and comment on the science potential of future multi-messenger observations of neutron-star mergers or core-collapse supernovae.
