Reuse of STAR forward calorimeter

  • Suggests to collaborate for making a new prototype module (eta*phi = 0.6x0.6 towers)

  • We will have a follow-up discussion next week

Discussion for simulation campaign

  • June 14th deadline is the baseline down selection, a serious milestone, but can be challenging if we aim high

  • What we can aim is to reuse sPHENIX components with some modification of the electron endocarp and barrel granularity

  • Need some internal campaign to check the performance and validate the codes <= will take 1~2 extra weeks

  • Is it easy to make the barrel W/ScFi deeper in the Fun4All?  Yes, but need some work.

  • what about density?

  • Need to discuss with physics group to get the minimum resolution, 7%? 10%? 12%?

  • Each sub-group should start to think about how to validate options for each component until the deadline.

  • High granularity study need extra time, O(1week)

  • How long does it take for the practice simulation?  1M of Tracker+full calorimeter simulations takes ~24h when cluster is empty

Others

  • Is gamma/pi0 seperation important? We are waiting for the answer from physics group
