Recent hints of lepton universality violation in rare B decays

by Dr Martino Borsato (Heidelberg University, CERN)

US/Eastern
Description

Over the past decade, the LHCb experiment has collected the world-largest sample of rare B-meson decays involving a b→sℓℓ transition. Their precise study unveiled a coherent set of anomalies, including some tantalising hints of lepton universality violation. In this colloquium, I will explain how we collect and analyse these decays with the LHCb detector and I will review the latest results. To conclude, I plan to discuss future measurements that have the potential to clarify the origin of these anomalies.
