Experimental Computing
- DUNE global pool submit host tested and ready for production
- STAR support for Isobar/CME analysis were discussed.
- ELK stack tested for multiple experiments and to be moved to production deployment
- DOE Google offering being revisted, seeing if their products can be supported at lab.
- Federated ID - tested the Mattermost instance.
IT Fabric
- Cooling failure on 6/15 - automated scripts for temp. monitoring powered down most of the systems, some were manually powered down.Mostly recovered, except for approx. 6 older systems
- CVMFS - functional with REANA on k8s cluster - provided useful support
- HPSS - successfully tested modified batch/code, will inform for upgrade next week
- GPFS client upgrade - requires draining jobs - schedule as one intervention soon as possible according to PHENIX/EIC groups.
IT Service Update
- NX upgraded to version 7 - check for modifications of user interface for NX terminal nodes selection
- Mattermost - enable email notifications next week - will be global changes, users need to personalize accordingly
- Website - fixed search options such as checking for 2 character words(for example NX). Additionally search results should be listed out appropriately spaced in between each result/topic.
- dCache - fixed network config issues causing internal dCache communication issues
Tools and Services Activity Summary
- Overleaf - service available to users soon
- Indico testing with federated access. Migrate from local accounts to federated access.
- BNLBox usage - charges for bigger experiments after a certain disk storage quota limit - to be discussed
- IBM-Q project - designing phase II forms
Temporary re-allocation of SDCC Farm worker nodes for STAR's Isobar activities
- PHENIX run6 muon analysis -- Will request a temporary increase in resources to catch up in time for DOE report in Sep.
- EIC -- proto-collaborations informed about temporary loss of resources, will request an increase in the Fall to meet needs
