[RBRC seminar] Gravitational form factors of hadrons from lattice QCD

Description

An important element of the structure of hadrons is the distribution of energy, spin and various mechanical properties inside them, which is dictated by the coupling of the quark and gluon fields to the metric tensor. This information is encoded in the gravitational form factors (GFFs), which can be split into distinct quark and gluon terms. In this seminar, I will give an overview of how these quantities arise and of what we currently know about them from theory, models and experimental data. I will then present a methodology for the extraction of the GFFs from lattice QCD, along with our recent results for the gluon GFFs of the pion, nucleon, rho meson, and delta baryon at heavier-than-physical pion mass, and the gluon contribution to their energy, pressure, and shear force distributions. Finally, I will show preliminary results of an extraction of the full GFFs, including both quark and gluon contributions, for the pion and the nucleon at a lattice ensemble close to the physical pion mass.
