Effective field theory interpretations of ATLAS measurements

by Hannes Mildner

US/Eastern
Description

The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) allows for the description of the effects of a variety of theories beyond the Standard Model (SM) that introduce new-physics states at an energy scale that is large in comparison to the electroweak scale. Precision measurements of Higgs boson, top quark, and weak boson production at the ATLAS experiment can help constraining parameters of the theory. A large number of recent ATLAS publications include constraints on SMEFT parameters. In this talk, highlights from these measurements and combinations will be presented. The importance of combining a large number of measurements will be demonstrated and progress towards ATLAS global SMEFT interpretations will be discussed.
