Yukari Yamauchi, Transport coefficients on a quantum computer

US/Eastern
Description

I will describe a quantum algorithm for computing the hydrodynamic transport coefficients in gauge theories. Two important building blocks of the algorithm are: the preparation of a thermal state as an initial state, and the measurement of the correlators of the energy-momentum tensor in gauge theories on a lattice. The transport coefficients are extracted from such correlators of the energy-momentum tensor. Due to the limitation on quantum resources, such quantum simulation will be possible only with small-volume lattices in the foreseeable future. I will discuss finite-volume effects in the computation of the transport coefficients in the context of quantum simulation.
