Near term action plan:
1. For future tracking simulation study updates, we propose to list the simulation production tag for comparison. The current default EPIC simulation tag is 22.10.0. For further detector geometry optimization, new tags will be generated and please refer to the specific tag for performance comparison.
2. We have identified colleagues to perform detector geometry and configuration cross-checks and we expect reports in the next EPIC tracking WG meeting.
Silicon MAPS detector geometry: Shujie Li
MPGD detector geometry: Matt Posik
TOF detector geometry: Nicolas Schmidt
Magnetic field map: Wenqing Fan
3. For reference, the EPIC tracking WIKI page will be updated with the latest geometry parameters of Silicon, MPGD and TOF once cross checks are completed.
4. For the benchmark, suggested to use the EIC Yellow Report detector requirements, will converge on the reference curve.
Progress updates:
1. Tracking seeding studies by Yue Shi Lai (LBNL):
Yue Shi reported the recent developments of implementation of realistic tracking seeding and ACTS. Found efficiency drop in the low momentum region and forward and backward pseudorapidity region. Yue Shi will cross check the codes with Dmitry offline. Yue Shi, please upload your slides to indico for reference.
2. Update on Tracking Studies using JANA2 framework by Shyam Kumar (INFN, Bari):
Good progresses have been achieved by Shyam for a series of tracking performance studies with different tracking configurations (not the production default one). Found similar issues reported by Wenqing and Yue Shi for track fitting in the low momentum region, further investigation is underway. Suggested to update the studies with the latest default detector geometry, production tag 22.10.0.
3. Disk acceptance and beam spot studies by Stephen Maple (Univ. of Birmingham):
Stephen has implemented the updated geometry in Fun4All, achieved consistent results with other studies in DD4HEP. Updated the acceptance in the forward and backward region with square inner cone of the disks and applying the 3 hit cuts for reconstructed tracks. He also studied the impacts on the tracking performance by the more realistic beam spot distributions with single particle simulation with truth tracking info, no significant impacts have been observed so far. This study is a good tool to evaluate the material budges especially from the service. Suggest to perform the same study when the realistic tracking finding is implemented in simulation.
