SIDIS WG meeting

US/Eastern
Description

We first discussed the SIDIS session at the upcoming collaboration meeting.

Marco will distribute a google doc for a draft document but we converged on a schedule along along these lines:

-Introduction. —>this should be accessible for new groups and touch on things like simulation samples, plan for the SIDIS groups, benchmark, status, ongoing activities and timelines.
Tentative we agreed that Ralf would give these talk since he generated the simulation samples
-Overview over the analysis framework, examples : Chris (see also following notes on Greg’s presentation on the current status)
-Short status update on current activities, analysis
-Discussion on next steps, missing ingredients etc.

The second agent item was a talk by Greg on the analysis framework

-a non-podio workaround was implemented. Currently it is in a separate branch, but should be merged into main soon (today or tomorrow?)
-comparison of basic kinematic distributions and resolutions looks good. We mostly looked at tracking related quantities, but they are consistent between Athena, Ecco, Delpehs (Athena) and epic)
-documentation is on GitHub. Note that Greg also added a new Jupiter notebook based example (and rdata frame) which should make it even easier to get started.
-Future collaborators are encouraged to check out the SIDIS wiki for

There are some obvious areas where features should be added to the simulation
—>electron reconstruction from ECAl (maybe this is something our DIS or ECAL colleagues could contribute?)
—>using clusters for the hadronic reconstruction method —>Ralf volunteered to work on this
—>cross-sections have to be updated for correct Q2 weighting —>Ralf

We discussed the difference between the two flavors of simulations which contain different sub detectors.
One todo item is to look at quantities that are related to the different features, e.g. backward PID and central calorimetry.
For us most likely the backward calorimetry is of importance. One could look at purities etc. vs momentum.
The central calorimetry for SIDIS might impact the electron reconstruction, but for that obviously that has to be implemented first.
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
