High-p_T pion associated with dilepton and heavy quarkonia production in pp collisions at RHIC and LHC

Description

Different phenomenological models based on saturation physics are used to estimate the Drell-Yan (\gamma and Z_0) dilepton spectra in pp collisions at RHIC and LHC energies in the color dipole formalism. We extend this analysis to heavy quarkonia (such as J/\psi, \Upsilon and \chi_{c,b}) production in the color singlet model. In order to further constrain QCD dynamics we suggest to measure the azimuthal correlation function C(\Delta \phi) between mid-rapidity dilepton pairs (from Drell-Yan process or quarkonia decay) and central or forward high-p_T pions. Predictions for the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of dileptons and pions are presented.
