Description
This talk will review the physics of preheating, namely the end of the initial inflationary era of our universe. This period is dominated by highly non-linear but classical physics, which needs to be studied by dedicated numerical simulations. After discussing such simulations, I will present original results about gravitational waves emitted during preheating. In particular, I will show how they can provide an example where gravitational waves can be used to learn about the particle content of the underlying fundamental theory.
