Description

The STAR Endcap Time-of-Flight detector (eTOF) was installed and operated as part of CBM's FAIR phase-0 program. It covers a forward rapidity range that is essential to STAR's particle identification requirements for the low-energy, fixed-target collider energies. The Beam Energy Phase-2 program, which ran from 2019-2021, seeks to find evidence of critical net-particle fluctuations within a range of center-of-mass  energies from 19.6 GeV in collider mode, to 3 GeV in fixed-target mode. As a proxy for conserved quantities, fluctuations of the "net" number of protons have been proposed as a test of baryon-number fluctuations which is expected to show non-monotonic behavior close the conjectured Critical Point in the QCD Phase diagram.

In this workshop, eTOF experts will discuss together with analyzers of net-proton fluctuations, as well as other STAR collaborators, the relevant details of the eTOF data, expectations, and use-cases to further facilitate the use of this important data in STAR physics analyses.

This workshop will be an in-person meeting.

Please return to this meeting page as we continue to update with more details on the venue, agenda, and other relevant local information.

At this time we provide you with information on how to get to GSI, and on-site lodging options. Note that on-site lodging does not provide breakfast or dinner. Alternative lodging are listed as well.

Participants are asked a fee of 100 Euro for lunches (Mon, Tue) and a common workshop dinner on Monday evening.
