Minutes
- Updates / Announcements:
- A BIC in-person workshop is planned at ANL for April 9-11.
- Wouter asked for a Box folder or equivalent to be set up as a CAD document repository (and for other documents too).
- Minutes: The March 4 minutes were reviewed: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/27066/.
- Cooling was discussed.
- Wouter said that he plate does not necessarily need to be metal, as a consideration to the material budget. Sylvester thought that the ESB material budget may not be an issue. Tom asked whether a 1/4” inner diameter/1/2” outer diameter cooling pipe would suffice.
- The heat removal form the AstroPix was discussed in terms of using the PbScFi to conduct the heat to the outer thick aluminum plate, but this may not be enough. Extruded aluminum trays can help, but this depends on their thickness. Forced dry air was brought up.
- Wouter asked about the SiPM stability requirements. Zisis will send the BCAL specs, which were 5 C at the chiller and 7 C at the SiPMs, +/- 0.5 deg. A passive circuit balanced the gains. Norbert mentioned that the bias (42 V) can be controlled by HGCROC per channel. 42 V will be the same for all ESBs and from there the bias can by dropped with DAC as needed. Our needs should be communicated to Norbert for CALOROC design.
- LED monitoring data can provide relative gain monitoring. Absolute gain calibrations need to come from physics (eg pi0->gg).
- Manitoba will examine all the heat removal aspects and our group will set the requirements to the Project (diameters, flow rate, temperature).
- Action Items: Sylvester, Norbert and Zisis will share design drawings.
- The next meeting will be on April 1. Presentations and updates are encouraged.
