The theoretical description of QCD jet evolution often relies on a Markovian description which neglects quantum interference effects between subsequent emissions. Colour and spin correlations are known to break this semi-classical picture already at the level of two emissions. In this talk, I will discuss the impact of a dense QCD medium, such as the quark-gluon plasma, on this class of interference effects. This is a critical step towards formulating an in-medium parton shower beyond the Markovian picture
