ePIC TOF/Tracking Software Meeting – Summary Minutes
Date: June 24, 2025
Participants: Tommy Tsang, Kentaro Kawade, Prithwish Tribedy, Honey Khindri, Kyohei Ono
Software & Clustering Updates
-
Tommy's clustering algorithm is accepted but not yet linked to ACTS; a new pull request will follow after lowering simulation thresholds to improve efficiency.
-
For now, ~100% efficiency will be assumed using the strip with highest ADC or weighted averaging (charge sharing).
-
Simplified electronics model includes ADC and TDC with constant fraction timing; position resolution depends on pixel size or sharing.
Charge Sharing & Geometry
-
Honey’s charge sharing implementation works as expected.
-
Artifact (3-line structure) in EndCAPTOF plots traced to incorrect pixel geometry; Tommy will submit corrected geometry in a new PR.
-
Honey will mirror BarrelTOF workflow for EndCAPTOF once geometry is fixed.
HPD Angular Resolution (Kyohei)
-
Resolution degrades with more support material and is better for inner sensor hits vs. outer.
-
Results suggest material and hit location significantly impact angular resolution—relevant for detector design.
PID Performance
-
Kentaro shared preliminary PID separation plots; plans to improve stats and add uncertainties.
Action Items:
-
Tommy: Submit corrected EdnCAPTOF geometry.
-
Honey: Begin clustering chain for EndCAPTOF after geometry update.
-
Kyohei: Add visual explanation of multiple scattering effects.
-
Kentaro: Upload slides, improve PID stats.
