South African ATLAS cluster was formed under BNL help at the beginning more than 15 years ago. Within the cluster, University of Johannesburg has up to now ten years involving in physics analyses, hardware and operation. Beyond that, in the context of a developing country, and given the amount of R&D at CERN, HEP developed technologies have been transfered to applied ones. The talk will give a diversifying view about the ample of work done at UJ-ATLAS group, from technology to physics which has a tight collaboration with BNL, and the suggestion for a new search direction.
