Artur Avkhadiev, Argonne National Lab, The Collins-Soper kernel, its effect on precision EW measurements, and its determination with lattice QCD [HET Seminar]

In this talk, I will review the Collins-Soper (CS) kernel and its relation to the nonperturbative transverse motion of partons relative to the direction of hadron boost. To motivate a first-principles determination of this quantity, I will illustrate how the uncertainty in our knowledge of the kernel propagates to QCD uncertainties in high-precision measurements of transverse-momentum spectra of electroweak bosons. Finally, I will present recent and ongoing determinations of the CS kernel using highly boosted pions in lattice QCD.
