Description

Studying QCD in a Hamiltonian formulation is a tantalizing prospect, giving easy access to real-time/lightcone quantities that are difficult to access with standard Euclidean-time path integral monte carlo. Progress on simulating gauge theories on quantum computers has been exciting, however for the foreseeable future we are limited by the hardware capabilities (number of qubits, lack of error correction, coherence times,...). SU(3) lattice gauge theories have an infinite-dimensional local Hilbert space associated to each edge, and require some form of truncation to be feasibly simulated. In this talk, I'll propose a strategy to evaluate and design better SU(3) truncations.
