DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Ketevi Adikle Assamagan (BNL)\, Joe Haley (Oklahoma
State University)\, Viviana Cavaliere (Brookhaven National Lab)\, Hector d
e la Torre Perez (Northern Illinois University)\, Andrew White (University
of Texas at Arlington)\n\nSUPER webpage: https://www.usatlas.org/super-pr
 ogramApplication page: https://indico.bnl.gov/e/ApplySUPER2026\nThe US ATL
AS Summer Undergraduate Program for Exceptional Researchers (SUPER) provid
es funding for undergraduate students in the US to work on ATLAS physics a
nalysis\, performance tools\, detector and electronics R&D\, core software
and computing during the summer.\nThe ATLAS Experiment\, located at the C
ERN laboratory in Switzerland\, is a worldwide effort with over 3000 physi
cists and engineers\, including 45 US universities and national labs (US-A
TLAS).  The ATLAS physics program aims to improve our understanding of th
 e Universe - its birth\, evolution\, current state\, and future.  ATLAS o
ffers a wide range of practical applications and educational opportunities
.  \nStudents currently enrolled at an undergraduate institution may appl
y to participate in the 8-week SUPER program at a US-ATLAS institute.  (T
his program is for students to do research at a university or lab within
the US and will not fund students to do research at CERN.)  Successful
applicants will be eligible for a $6000 stipend to cover living expenses.
Participants are expected to spend at least eight weeks at a US-ATLAS i
nstitute to conduct their summer research work.\nApplicants should identif
y as one of the following types of students:\n\nStudents who are enrolled
at an undergraduate institution that does not have a US-ATLAS group\, and
who are willing to travel to a US-ATLAS institution for the 8-week program
.  Students in this group do not need to have identified a US-ATLAS membe
r as a mentor in advance\; one will be identified by the program.  Funds
to support travel to the US-ATLAS site will be provided by the SUPER progr
am.\nStudents who are enrolled at or near a US-ATLAS institution\, and who
have an existing relationship with a member of US-ATLAS who will serve as
their mentor.  These students are expected to continue their research at
  their home US-ATLAS institution.\n\nProgram overview and expectations:\n\
nSelected students will work with their supervisor to determine their e
xpected start date.  \nStudents will meet with their supervisor on a regu
lar basis.  \nEach student will send a one-page progress report at the ha
lfway point (4-5 weeks after starting).\nEach student will submit a final
project report at the conclusion of the research period. \nWe will organ
ize a SUPER Symposium near the end of the summer for all SUPER participant
s to give a short presentation of their research.  \nFinally\, students
should send any cool photos\, diagrams\, plots\, etc. that highlight thei
r research activities.\n\nStudents from historically underrepresented gro
ups are encouraged to apply.\nInterested students can apply by clicking th
e Registration link on the left side of this page.  \nThe initial applica
tion deadline is January 31st\, 2026.  (This is only the initial deadline
\; applications after this date will still be considered.)\n\nhttps://indi
