DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Amanda Steinhebel (ORNL)\n\nSilicon is a well-behave
 d and thoroughly utilized material for many components of particle detecto
 r systems across a wide range of applications. From medical imaging to ast
 rophysics to collider-based fundamental experiments\, scientists are pushi
 ng the limits of detector and data stream capabilities necessitating furth
 er research and development. This talk will illustrate the rich future of
 pixelated silicon detectors through three case studies of active R&D proje
 cts: the AstroPix chip\, an HVCMOS MAPS sensor for astrophysics and nuclea
 r physics\; 3D Photon-to-Digital Converters (3D-PDCs)\, next-generation di
 gital silicon photomultipliers for medical imaging and nuclear security\;
 and the NEUROPix neuromorphic computing project which aims to bring data p
 rocessing to the detector edge with machine learning.\n \n \nJoin videoc
