Abstract: Since the first precise measurement at BNL in the early 2000s, the muon g-2 has attracted a lot of attention as a powerful probe of physics beyond the Standard Model. However, in light of the updated Standard Model value and the final result of the Fermilab measurement, its impact on a wide range of BSM scenarios has to be reevaluated. In this talk I discuss how g-2 connects to a number of complementary observables relevant in searches for new physics, and give an overview of the status of several well motivated extensions of the Standard Model, ranging from light dark sectors to heavy new physics above the EW scale.
