        As you probably saw in Barak’s presentation at Friday’s General Meeting, there is a concentrated effort underway to study the performance of the tracking system with L4 in the SVT. Of necessity, this puts a higher burden on the outer detectors that contribute to tracking, including the barrel TOF. I wanted to check with you as to where things stand with regards both the TOF reconstruction and geometry.

         

        For the reconstruction, I understand that there are efforts underway to include noise hits in the barrel TOF a well as reproduce the spatial resolution seen in simulations. That’s great, but what I would like to know is the timescale for these efforts.  Will they be available in time for a simulation campaign before the end of the year?

         

        On Sept. 16th I saw an email from Tommy showing a geometry for a two-layer barrel TOF. Has this been, or will it be, included in simulations soon?  I think it will be very important to have a realistic model of the detector in simulations, including any geometric loss of acceptance, to fully evaluate the integrated tracking system.

         

        No need for a long email reply if this is something we can discuss at the upcoming meeting this Thursday evening.
