Facility News & Announcements

  • major changes to underlying infrastructure still on schedule for 12/11/18 10:00 AM

 

Network Operations

  • legacy network equipment has all been retired and cleanup continues (copper, fiber, etc)

  • Arista SW upgrade will wait for now and align with HPSS/CSI intervention windows

  • Belle II internel subnet migration out of SciCore switch pair ETA 12/18/18

 

Storage Group

  • 2PB additional RHIC central storage is in FY 2019 budget ETA is soon (late ‘18)

 

HPSS status

  • STAR will order 400 tapes within the next few weeks before raw data taking ‘19

  • migration of LT05 data continues through next quarter, moving ~10K tapes

 

Services & Tools

  • LDAP/Kerberos will migrate into IPA on 12/11

  • user impact - required to change password after the 12/11 migration date

  • new password update will accept reusing the same current password (if it passes complexity)

  • we will provide two ways for the users to change password in IPA

  • a web interface

  • login to gateway and change password (first time only)

     

RACF Linux Farm

  • plan to update interactive nodes next week

  • updates to batch farm planned on a rolling schedule to minimize production disruptions

  • shared pool is ready to accept production workload

 

CSI resources

  • IC-cluster expansion procurement finalized, waiting for delivery

  • completed updates and reboots on a rolling schedule to minimize production disruptions
