Facility News & Announcements

  • Welcome to SDCC staff, Matt Snyder

 

Network Operations

  • intervention completed for electrical maintenance to ground the compute racks

  • moved row47N farm to 49N all CDCE compute are on flywheel-2

  • space made available to move HPSS library silos into cleared QCDOC room

  • BG/Q compute is removed from QCDOC

  • HPC1 cluster moved from QCDOC to BGL room

  • BlueArc storage retired/removed from SDCC

  • 19 racks legacy RHIC storage preparing next wave of equipment retirement/removal

 

HPSS status

  • 5 days HW issue on Phenix library

  • ACSLS failed and couldn’t bring up Phenix LSM

  • 4 days support with Oracle, applied software patch and returned to normal operations

 

General Services

  • Phenix GPFS migrated to new HW; metadata migration scheduled for next week

  • investigate Star GPFS caching issue

 

Linux Farm

  • RHIC moved into shared pool roughly 50/50 Star/Phenix

  • planning to move more hardware into shared pool eventually including T3

 

CSI Resources

  • final expansion of Institutional Cluster is complete, running benchmarks now

 

Services & Tools

  • IPA migration estimated 1444 Active users / 725 have completed pw change

  • on schedule to eliminate the gateway and web password change mechanisms
