Facility News & Announcements

  • RHIC run 2019 so far so good

 

Network Operations

  • Usertrust CA blocked by BNL-Cyber on 2/28/2019, affecting ATLAS and Belle-2

  • Follow up is in progress with a mechanism to avoid similar occurrences

  • SciZone Perimeter Firewall Configuration is effort underway, documenting FW rules

  • New unfirewalled DMZ subnet 198.125.210.0/25 is provisioned for upcoming CSI

  • BNL Campus Network Core failover test succesfully done by ITD on 3/2/2019

  • 19 racks of retired legacy RHIC storage being removed from SDCC

  • New ATLAS T1 storage installation in CDCE underway

  • New BelleII/LQCD HPSS mover system are being built in CDCE into racks 44-[2,3]

 

HPSS status

  • raw data collection ramped up after 3/1 to 1Gbps bandwidth

  • current configuration is good

 

General Services

  • GPFS has been stable again, fs is responsive and load improved; NFS/AFS are stable

  • STAR GPFS was suffering heavy IOPS

  • Jerome deleted input data from gpfs01 and moved to XRootD (Hitachi JBOD)

  • the system has been improved ever since, however

  • Jerome expressed concerns for future viability of this solution

 

Linux Farm

  • shared pool operational for STAR and PHENIX currently

  • cgroups on bandwidth between dCache/condor batch

  • T3 compute scheduled to move into shared pool Mon 3/11

 

CSI Resources

  • normal operations
