Network Operations

  • Network equipment for B725 being purchased 10 x Arista 7500R3 + linecards/transceivers

  • DCIM expansion in CDCE onto CDU of rows 46S-49S and eventually 50N

Storage (Disk and Tape)

  • last week issues with 32GB Host Bus Adapter, after downgrade to old firmware it’s OK

  • data carousel Round-2 new model from CERN

  • increased read performance: 30K read requests now 100 Mb/sec compared to 20 Mb/sec

  • PHENIX dCache 1 PB sPHENIX raw data added

General Services

  • updates to new user request form

  • Coverity licenses updated last week

Fabric group

  • INERGEN fire-suppression tanks in SDCC are old, suffering loss of pressure

  • refill would be expensive

  • in order to eliminate this system DOE requires backups and no critical infrastructure

  • New purchase will soon go out for bid sweet spot between the following

  • 96 cores Cascade Lake; 4 x 1.9 TB SSD for IO; dual-attached 1 GbE bond; software RAID

  • 128 cores AMD Rome; 5 x 1.9 TB SSD for IO; dual-attached 1 GbE bond; software RAID

  • migrated legacy Linux Farm Vms to new RHEV

Services & Tools

  • BNLBox Policy Proposal:

  • Default 50 GB quota but can be increased up to 1 TB with request and approval via RT

  • Requests beyond 1 TB need to be discussed and evaluated in fairness among programs

  • Archival tape access not default, but CSI has defined a charge-back model based on LQCD
