Facility News

  • https://cilogon.org
  • SDCC is now part of InCommon Federation
  • ITD enabled federated auth on test Indico
  • accepts local Indico, BNL AD, and SDCC credentials
  • need to integrate with SDCC LDAP to be useful for production

Network Operations

  • STAR Lustre MDS and STAR CH buffer storage delivered
  • combined RHIC/ATLAS purchase expected on site early July
  • 2 x 14 TB HDD JBOD purchase in progress for EIC and ATLAS dCache
  • planning extension of CSI ML cluster
  • planning extension of NSLS II interactive compute

  • Singularity installed on play machine for testing

  • Supermicro confirms early July delivery of compute
  • We will retire and sanitize racks in [50-N] to make way for new delivery

  • plan to reserve a few retired servers for a test ELK cluster

  • request to move sPHENIX group under PHENIX
  • MFA:  DUO cost prohibitive for Guest Appointments; we can use Google Auth or FreeOTP
  • reminder to be mindful of expiring Guest Appointments
  • RHIC 2020 will resume ~ 6/25/2020 for 12 weeks @ 9.2 GeV  low data volume

 

 

Topical Discussion:  Interactive login services

 

SSH gateways:  plan to merge the experiment gateways to universal set of GW; enable MFA alongside keys

NX:  plan to combine NX servers multi-node, NX protocol could replace SSH, testing OTP,

Farm interactive nodes:  moved to VM all run SL 7  (60 -80 VM on these 9 hosts)

Jupyter:  MFA is now working

rcf3:  a general purpose interactive host, planning to split into two for separate campus and SciDMZ

FTP:   plan to replace rftpexp machines with sftp for external and internal (group account accessible)

rlnxsp:  VM under farm Interactive nodes

spool[1/2]:  two general purpose farm interactive machines
