Kalman Szabo " [HET seminar] Muon magnetic moment: new physics or not?"

Julia Gehrlein, Peter Boyle (BNL)

We compute the leading order hadronic vacuum polarization contribution to the muon magnetic moment from lattice QCD. The result is somewhat larger, than the traditional experimental data-driven determination (R-ratio method). The recent Fermi National Laboratory measurement of the muon magnetic moment, which has been claiming strong hint of new physics beyond the Standard Model, is now put into a different perspective. Our result is compatible with the no new physics scenario.
