Ping: general update

  • The draft detector proposal is now available on Github and Overleaf. Only the steering committees and editorial teams have permission to edit the proposal
  • Please list the Overleaf account emails of the authors of your analysis notes when requesting a new analysis repository on Github
  • Reminder of public presentation  review:
    • Send your draft slides to the public list for feedback
    • Upload the finalized presentation to Zenodo

Xinbai: update on J/psi simulation analysis

  • Full simulation with Pythia 6 events of 10x100 GeV ep collisions
  • Fast simulation with Pythia 6 events of 18x278 GeV ep collisions
  • Reconstruct J/psi using e+e-. eID is from colorimetry E/p for full simulation or TOF for fast simulation
  • There is a gap between the like (combinatorial background) and the unlike-sign pairs in the invariant mass spectra in the full simulation study.
    • The unlike-sign background is reduced using an energy cut on e+/e- tracks and a forward light cone cut to remove the scattered electrons.
    • A veto cut to reduced pi0 decayed e+/e- will be implemented in the next update
  • Comment:
    • Keep in mind that the DCA in the 1st simulation campaign is not suitable for analysis, but the proper DCA will be available in the 2nd campaign
    • Double-check the x and Q^2 of the background events are similar to the foreground events
  • Q: Why there is a bump in the e- E/p distribution at p>10.5 GeV?
A: The EMcal may not be calibrated. Suggest an eta dependence E/p cut
A: The bump could be caused by the e- beam

Discussion on sanity check

  • include basic kinematics plots
  • compare pythia8 and pythia6 results
  • compare Yellow Report’s studies, but we need to be mindful that the Yellow Report’s studies may not be accurate.
