Advancing Physics with Neutrino Cross Sections and a Diverse Workforce

Neutrino physics is currently one of the main drivers in the US physics program, with the potential to revolutionize our understanding of the universe. Precision measurements of neutrino cross sections are essential for advancing this research. However, who gets to do it? A diverse workforce is crucial for innovation, as different perspectives and experiences lead to new ideas and solutions.

In this seminar, I will discuss my work to the Short Baseline Neutrino Program (SBN) and the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) presenting plans, possibilities, and the impact of different cross section measurements, as well as our relation with the nuclear physics community. I will also present the recommendations and expectations of the community from the current Snowmass process for neutrino physics, as well as my activities with the Community Engagement Frontier and Snowmass Early Career on science communication and DEI.

I will also discuss the challenges and rewards of working in a diverse and inclusive environment, while sharing my own experience as a queer immigrant scientist with different science education, outreach, public policy advocacy, and DEI initiatives.
