Local Information

This page contains a bit of background information about the local site.  If issues come up during the conference, the knowledge will be captured here.

Access to the BNL site

Upon arrival at the BNL main gate on your first day, inform the security guard that you will be attending the ATLAS workshop. The security guard will ask you to drive over to the BNL check-in trailer, where you must present a photo ID to the security officer to verify that you are on the list of participants. Acceptable forms of photo ID are driver's license (or other government-issued photo ID) for US citizens, and passport for non-US citizens.

Parking

You may park at any properly marked parking area, except those restricted to administration, handicapped, service or emergency (fire/police/ambulance) vehicles, which are clearly marked.

Conference venue

To reach Berkner Hall: upon arriving at the main gate, enter the left-hand lane and take a left at the stop light, follow the road until the next stop light, make a right, and Berkner will be on your left. Parking is available behind Berkner.

To reach the SDCC/ITD Building (adjoining the Physics Department building): upon arriving at the main gate, enter the right-hand lane and follow it through the stop light and all the way around a bend to the left. As the road comes to an end, you will be facing the SDCC/ITD Building; parking can be found to the left, right, and across the street from the building.

A map of the BNL campus and the location of the buildings is available here. You may also request a copy of the BNL site map at the check-in trailer. Maps of key locations:

Meals and coffee breaks

Morning and afternoon breaks will be provided at the conference venue. Participants can go to Berkner Hall (the BNL cafeteria) for coffee and some limited lunch options (5 minutes' walk from conference venue). Local restaurants are listed below for other meal options.

For lunch on Monday (and through the week), the most convenient option is to use BNL's limited but once again existing lunch service at Berkner, our Monday location. A pre-order sandwich service is offered. You can order directly at
    https://foodtruck.pub/order/menu.aspx?busid=11385
anytime between now (Sunday) and their deadline, Mon 9:30am. (You can also order in person at lunch time, pre-ordering avoids a line and wait.)

If for any reason you'd like to leave the Monday ordering to us, you can fill out this form anytime up to Mon 8:30am, and reimburse Torre later.
