Detector roundtable:

Zero-Degree Calorimeter

Yuji:

  • Japan funding agency discussing possible in-kind contribution for ZDC.
  • Korean group was originally interested in HCAL, now pivoting toward developing a case for ZDC upgrade with W/Si EMCAL.
    • Elke: Please contact me and Rolf to discuss this.

Miguel:

  • In-touch with U. Regina group to work on simulations.
  • Alex: please ensure the focus is on the refinement of the case for the crystal EMCAL.
    • How will shorter crystals (10cm) impact shower information for photons hitting the full ZDC (need imaging information from SiPM-on-Tile)?
    • Can SiPM-on-Tile have sensitivity to low-E (100 MeV) photons?

B0 detectors

Alex:

  • Work in-progress to optimize the layout of the tracking system w.r.t. to crystal system. Need the tracking layers to be more toward the center of the magnet to improve resolution.

Zvi:

  • Engineer at Ben Gurien working on understanding consequences of moving the crystals further back in z within the B0. 15cm seems to not have a major impact on the crystals + overlaps. Simulations of tracker with that shift underway.

Roman pots and OMD

Alex:

  • EICROC0 still has issues with ADC information and reading out multiple channels at the same time. Given the present issues, a test beam in June seems very premature - not likely to be very useful for EICROC0 testing right now until these issues are resolved.
  • Version 0 of the new beam pipe + exit window in DD4HEP and under software review. Will be merged in-time for the April simulation campaign.
