B0 updates:

  • Karthik has completed an initial study of the shifted B0 tracker with the field map to study the impact on tracking resolution. He will present this next week, but initial results seem to match our expectations.

ZDC:

  • Yuji et al. are continuing discussion with Taiwanese and Korean groups about construction plans.
  • Yulia: "What is the plan to finalize the design choice for the crystal + SiPM-on-tile system?"
  • The response is that the timeline is unclear because simulations have to be done to make a final decision.
  • Yulia emphasized that this must be done ASAP as we need to freeze the configuration.
  • Miguel presented studies of multi-neutron final state reconstruction in the ZDC. There are some things to work out the algorithm, in particular, to train it on some of these multi-neutron events to regain compenstation for the neutron energy deposits in the calorimeter.
  • Miguel also discussed low-E photon reconstruction, but not in the context of vetoing, but rather really studying the semi-coherent events which produce these photons.

Roman pots/OMD:

  • Alex has pushed the full Version 0 update beam pipe + exit window to the ePIC repo. It is now merged into the main branch and is part of the default geometry. Users just need to run the updated container and do a "git pull" on main and they can use it in their studies.
  • The June test beam at DESY slated for the EICROC (and others) tests has been cancelled, as the ASICs are not yet ready for test beam studies. When more progress is made on the ASIC design, the various available options for test beams will be evaluated and a new date will be selected. TBD.
