EPIC Far-Forward Weekly Meeting

US/Eastern
Present: Alex Jentsch (Host), Chia Ming, Kuo,
Jonathan Smith, Matthew Posik, Nathaly Santiesteban,  Po-Ju Lin, Prithwish Tribedy, Sourav Tarafdar, Tyler Hague, Yuji Goto, Yulia Furletova, Michael Murray

Alex opened by reminding detector leads that the pre-TDR is due at the end of September. It is important that you have all the MC samples you need before then. Full TDR is due at the end of November.

The bulk of the meeting focussed on the B0 design. Yulia opened by showing that thanks to the movement of a vacuum bellows we have a little more room at the front of B0. Jlab is also 3D printing a 1/2 scale mockup.

Jonathan then showed several slides and movies of design for the B0 mechanics.  It includes a small car that will take the tracking planes from the front to this proper position. (Movie was shown).  The tracking layers and calorimeter are supported by rails that are cantilevered off the front of B0.  There was concern that such an arrangement would start to vibrate which would seriously degrade our tracking resolution.

>>> Todo: Jonathan consider if the support rods can be attached to the back of B0.

For the tracking layers themselves Alex commented that we need to have at least one set of sensors between the electron and hadron beam pipes for the station that is the furthest forward. This would require sensors in a 1x4 package. Yulia thought we could look at this.
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
