The field of Quantum Gravity is full of deep and ominous statements. However in reality, General Relativity and Quantum Mechanics go together quite nicely at ordinary energy scales. The basic ideas behind this understanding are relatively simple. I will present the modern understanding of the subject, and some of the lessons. I will also rephrase the areas where our present understanding breaks down.
