Description
ATLAS, one of the large-general purpose experiments at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, is preparing major upgrades for the coming High-Luminosity era. The order-of-magnitude growth in computing demands presents major challenges, but also significant opportunities for re-thinking and re-designing some of the long-standing standards. This talk will discuss some of the planned changes, including ways to take on sustainability and open science. Looking further forward, we will consider what challenges await us with the future colliders currently under development, and discuss how the HL-LHC developments pave the way for the future of HEP, and more broadly scientific software and computing.
