Main priorities
- Cooling, mechanical design changes due to first round of impedance results
Wakefields
- From Gang (BNL): Detector packages need to be surrounded by an insulator, not a conductor.
- Consensus from group is to have Gang change the material from copper to stainless steel, keeping everything else the same, and see how it affects the wakefields.
- There was a discussion on using aluminum for (and to help with wakefields) cooling --> IJCLab simulations were done with both Al and Cu both, Al performed way worse for cooling the detector.
Inclusion of RDO board in the vacuum
- Issue with RDO is either to have it outside the vacuum or inside. Outside creates two primary problems: 1) many feedthroughs which penetrate the scattering chamber wall, 2) constant flexing and movement on the ribbon cables and connectors.
- Goal is to see if it is easier to solve the RDO-in-vacuum issue(s) easier than the issues mentioned above.
- Need a flavor of the RDO with max number of inputs to LPGBT, and inputs potentially positioned on an edge (would need a modified RDO board).
- Vacuum compatibility.
Goals for next meeting (Oct. 27th)
- Follow-up on cooling with IJCLab -- any results from test setup to validate Peltier performance against what was simulated.
- Follow-up on results from Gang's studies of impedance. --> we need some "specs" from these studies to know what we need to design to.
