I will talk about the prompt component of atmospheric neutrinos, which are from the heavy flavor hadron decays, focusing on tau neutrinos. For the energy above ~10 TeV, the flux of prompt atmospheric tau neutrinos dominates over the conventional tau neutrino flux, produced from oscillation of conventional muon neutrinos, and at lower energies, it can be a background to the conventional tau...
