GENERAL

  • Martin (office# 2-177) is giving a tutorial to Eric’s summer intern students at 10 am today.
  • Eric will send the design files for the connector and ship spare cables to David this afternoon.
  • DAC (Detector Advisory Council) meeting June 13, next Friday—(HCAL presentation at ~1.35 PM). Slides are posted in the Indico link: https://indico.bnl.gov/event/26584/
  • Stefan: The schedule for the BHCAL meeting next week is yet to be decided.

PROTOTYPE STATUS AND PLANS

Martin:

  • Presented at the calorimeter work fest last week— showed those slides at this meeting.
  • Showed RCDAQ setup file with plugins and the IP address that the RCDAQ needs from the KCU board (only major info needed for RCDAQ to take data: 10.1.2.208).
  • Online monitoring plots are shown in livetime— They update in an interval.
  • Stefan asked for the feedback from the ORNL workshop. They are not familiar with the setup. So, not much.
  • (What needs to be done for Tristan to replicate what is done by Martin.)
  • ELOG is set for the test setup at BNL. A camera is placed at the board to monitor the changes during the data taking period.
  • Easier to look at the individual waveforms to understand the reflections etc.
  • Norbert has 80% of the scripts implemented to move all the settings to RCDAQ. (RCDAQ does not configure the board. But reads the configuration settings. )

Nathaly:

  • Two test stands are in progress at University of New Hampshire (UNH) -- one is to build a replica of what is at the BNL HCal lab; the other is to build a replica of what GSU used to test tiles for sPHENIX.The team has most of the parts needed to set up the test stand. It is progressing well.
  • ROC and FPGA can be tested. There will be a delay of 2 weeks due to travel plans and because Olaiya is attending a workshop.

David:

  • Showed the photos of the second setup at UNH — using the inner HCal spare tiles from GSU.
  • The cable from BNL does not connect to the board (with the 72 channels that is attached to KCU).
  • Stefan: Revisited why there was a mismatch in the size of the board and SiPMs. (Conclusion is that new SiPM boards work with the sPHENIX SiPM board holders, but UNH has to 3D print those boards to make sure design files are correct).
  • Steve might have the design files—Eric will send to David.
  • Martin asked if it’s possible to get access to the computer there at UNH. Nathaly said yes. At the moment, not sure how. (Other than desktop applications)

SIMULATION STATUS AND PLANS

  • Nathaly will combine her results with what Olaiya has and present those in the next meeting.
  • Martin: suggested he can have a meeting with Nathaly and team to start with the analysis even if the card is not working. (Will revisit this in 2 weeks)
