Minutes
- Updates: today’s meeting had two main items. Zisis ran Item 2 and Maria ran Item 3.
- Electronics Consolidation:
- A meeting is needed to get all the engineers together (NASA, ORNL, OSU, Hungary) to advance the design and calculate realistic heat loads. Best time is after the August beam tests, so in September or October. NASA will host it and Regina will email and coordinate communication and calendar invites.
- Radiation tolerant components: Zisis will email Jeff and Fernando to see if such information is available within ePIC. Adam will consider registering at CERN and JLab and possible attend one of these tests.
- Zisis will work with Aram to ensure readiness regarding Hall D tests, with both Options for amp/summing boards (and both polarities; do we need HGCROC protoboards for the negative polarity boards). Dynamic range and signal size considerations are important. Norbert, Aram and Zisis will meet this week to discuss all that.
- Beam Test:
- Maria is requesting updates from everyone associated with the Hall D Tests.
- Maria and Norbert ordered another 4+SFIL summing boards (to add to the existing 6+6). Production in Hungary can start later this week.
- Power supplies were returned from JLab to ANL yesterday.
- Bobae showed showed slides on AstroPix. Things look well in hand. The complexity of the setup was discussed and all agree that 3 SFILs can do the job (vs 5).
- Jared gave an oral update on simulations. Norbert’s geometry measurements have even inputted; angles are now calculated very well; PS magnetic field matches angles; PS tiles spread material (need to smear energies to match Sasha). Maria asked that for this high-energy run we need to shoot higher energy and plot leakage and plan paddle location set up.
- Jared also reported on SFIL construction. This week Tom and Jared will work on “hamburger” (Carbon fiber + PbSciFi + Carbon fiber). Longer 1-m -long SFIL next week. Plan it to ship to JLab which means mechanical fixtures for it and its SiPMs need to be ready.
- Henry showed slides and Trigger/synchronization; shower containment and channel mapping were discussed. ASTEP signal into the input of HGCROC might help with synchronization. The high-energy rates should work with 4 paddles and Henry will investigate whether these can be paddles can be included in the trigger remotely (to avoid hall access).
- Martin emailed that installing the extra hard drives is the only task needed for August. He will not be present at the tests but everything is set for remote access. Norbert reported that chopped/split waveforms across two packets has a solution from Martin (used in sPhenix) - an event pool is created and split waveforms are combined.
- AOB:
- Henry will coordinate biweekly meetings on the beam test analysis.
- Regina reported that the mission to boost Swift telescope launched. Also, that Taylor Swift got married! :-)
- Next meeting: July 14 on ESB (but will be confirmed, as next week is the ePIC-Glasgow meeting).
