  • EIC storage and tape drives for BNL [still pending / not delivered]
  • More stats from user registration needed (so far, 12 days at peak activity for a Foreign National)
  •  ...

News from JLab/BNL computing meeting & other news

  • Resumed discussion on cost estimates for a Streaming DAQ
  • Discussion on accepting InCommon ID from other labs has begun - discussion with Cyber first will be held Friday
  • OSG Storage work underway at BNL
  • ...

Meeting minutes

  • Made an intro, called for additional topics - none
  • Noted Thomas requested an official deployment of zenodo
  • Carlos presented his slides. DOI topic was presented comprehensively but there were much confusion on this point. The bottom line
    • OSTI/DOI are the ones that MUST be used for official DOE related work (this is by policy as noted by Carlos)
    • For now, DOE does not impose this to be the only DOI as far as there is a record with the proper DOI (implication is that zenodo would not be the primary source)
    • Inveno RDM team will be informed and hopefully, we can have a DOE/DOI compliant way to assign DOI to uploaded document
      • NB: requirement Thomas brought up in his past feedback - if an "archive" is uploaded, there is a need for each file to be a reference that can be used in other documents ... this should also have priority in the development feedback.
    • Discussion on whether Zenodo is to safe experiment's datasets. Generally not, imagine "documents DB" [and upload notes, save code used in analysis etc ...]. It is only one tool in the suite of Data Preservation tools.
    • NB2: While  our zenodo instance technically accepts other Federated ID, policy is missing to allow this. Will follow this up. First discussion was held with ITD management leadership - EIC case will be a first case :-D [this may take time]
  • Start the production instance fresh or save current content? Fresh!
    • Thomas noted him and team are discussing keywords for zenodo (used in search)
  • Presentation on JIRA was given (it is an issue tracking with adaptable workflows, all organized into "projects")
    • Question was asked if we could integrate with git - yes, it was enabled at first but had little use
    • Generally, EIC folks did not see this as a priority for testing - the tool is there (last slide indicates on how to get an account)
  • AOB: how to transfer from Google drive to something else? [will investigate further]

New action items - proceed with zenodo production instance.
