Location. The workshop will be held at the Dao House Retreat Center, located in a valley next to the Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado, USA. The participants will be housed in shared cabins with views of the Rocky Mountains which are a few minutes walk from the lodge where the talks and meals will be held. The Dao House Retreat Center is approximately 70 miles from Denver, which is served by Denver International Airport (DIA). DIA has many connections to international and US cities, and the workshop venue can be reached by shuttle or car from that airport. As with previous HQ editions, the workshop participants will have the afternoon free. They will be able to participate in outdoor activities such as hiking and viewing wildlife, or enjoy the facilities at Dao House itself.
Connectivity. As mentioned, the venue is in a beautiful, but remote location. This means connectivity will be very limited. Due to bandwidth limitations and the fact a zoom session is needed for online talks, the conference wifi will not be open to participants, and there is no wifi in the room. Nonetheless, if a connection is urgently needed, we will facilitate that. The same applies to cell phone service. One can get cell phone service, but will have to walk outside to higher ground. The rooms have landlines. Therefore, please make sure your talks are uploaded before you arrive.
Weather and altitude. The weather will be very autumnal - 60s/30s F (~16/3 C), and the current forecast is sunshine everyday. This is of course subject to change, and pack the appropriate gear for outdoor activities, if you choose to partake. The venue is at ~9200 ft (~2800 m), so be prepared for the adjustment to attitude, which usually takes 1-2 days.
The website site for Dao House can be found at https://www.daohouse.com, which provides more information on the onsite facilities and possible afternoon activities.
