Description

Updates:

The workshop will be held in the CFNS seminar room located in the second floor of the Physics Department (Building 510).  Here is the route from the main entrance to Building 510: https://www.bnl.gov/maps/510map.php.

For lunch, an option is the cafeteria located in the Berkner hall which is an 8 minute walk from the Physics building. For a complete set of on-site and off-site options for food, see here: https://www.bnl.gov/staffservices/foodservices.php .

On 18th Thursday, we will have the workshop dinner at Desmond's Restaurant (https://eastwindlongisland.com/desmonds-restaurant/) from 7PM.

The CFNS Workshop on Lattice Parton Distribution Functions will be held at Brookhaven National Laboratory from Wednesday, April 17th to Friday, April 19th  2019.

Parton distribution functions (PDF) of hadrons are crucial for understanding hadron structures. Until recently, the only way to determine PDFs reliably was through phenomenological model-based global fits to experimental data. Recent advances have led us to an exciting era where x-dependent PDFs can now be accessed through first-principle lattice QCD calculations.  The aim of this three day CFNS workshop is to bring together the leading experts in this field, critically assess the present status and delineate a path forward to address the remaining theoretical and technical challenges.

The entire event is free, however, registration is mandatory to allow us to make appropriate logistical arrangements. It is also important that you complete BNL guest registration in order to be able to enter the site.

About CFNS

The Center for Frontiers in Nuclear Science (CFNS) was set up jointly by Brookhaven National Laboratory and Stony Brook University with generous support from the Simons Foundation and New York State. The Center will support activities towards the realization of the US Electron Ion Collider (EIC). In the long run, the Center will expand its activities to other topics of interest to the broader US nuclear science community.
